Meaningful change begins when you feel understood.

I’m Sarah Mohanavilasam, a licensed clinical social worker. I work with adults, teens, kids, and families. I support people through trauma, anxiety, and other challenges that feel too heavy to manage alone.

How we work

How we work depends on who's in the room.

With adults and teens, that might mean EMDR, which helps the things that got stuck finally move. Or ACT, which is less about arguing with hard thoughts and more about building a life around what matters to you. With children, it means play, because that's the language they already speak.

The first few sessions are yours. A place to land while we figure out, together, where to go next.

In person or by telehealth. Whichever one actually gets you here.

Questions clients ask

The things people ask first

How do I know if I need therapy?

There’s no bar you have to clear first. People come in for a crisis, and people come in because something has quietly stopped working. Both are good enough reasons. If you’ve been wondering for a while, that wondering is usually the answer.

What happens on the first call?

We talk for 15 minutes, and there’s no charge and no obligation. You tell me what’s going on, I tell you how I work, and we decide together whether I’m the right fit. If I’m not, I’ll point you toward someone who is.

How often would we meet, and for how long?

Sessions are 53 minutes, and we usually start weekly so the work builds momentum, then space them out as things steady. Some people come for a few months, some longer. You’re never signing up for a fixed number of sessions.

How much does a session cost? Do you take insurance?

Individual sessions are $150 and family sessions are $200. I’m in-network with SelectHealth, Regence BCBS, United Healthcare, Aetna, and Cigna. We can sort out coverage on the free call, before you commit to anything.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes. What you say in the room stays in the room, with the narrow exceptions the law requires: if someone is in danger, I have to act. The same holds for teens. Their sessions are theirs, and I’ll always show you how to support them without handing over a transcript.

Where is your office?

I see clients at Trolley Corner, 515 South 700 East, Suite 2F, Salt Lake City, UT 84102. Parking in the garage is free, and the easiest way in is to park there and come in on the second floor. There’s a waiting room you’re welcome to arrive early to.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes, anywhere in Utah. Some people find it easier to talk from their own room, some need the drive to town to mark the hour as theirs, and plenty of people mix the two. Whichever one actually gets you here is the right one.

  2. Come in on the second levelSkip the street-level doors. From the garage, walk in on the second level, following the signs for EOS Fitness. There are a few steps at that door, and then you’re on the office floor.

Using accessible parking? Those stalls are on the garage’s lower level, and the elevator takes you up to the office floor — that route has no steps, so you can skip the second-level walk-in.

By TRAX, the Trolley station is a few minutes’ walk. The building sits directly across from Trolley Square. Open in maps →
